Treasures

I started writing this extended 3–part song cycle in mid-2022 and it’s become very near and dear to my heart. This show in contrast to my musical “Forestine” will be birthed exclusively online. I will be particularly forthcoming about my writing process by releasing songs in real time and sharing behind-the-scenes story development from the ground up.

This unique semi-animated song cycle provides an illustration of the supernatural struggle to lay down earthly pleasures in exchange for Heavenly Treasures. As a high-stakes countdown plays out on a narrow path, our protagonist Raya’s desire to stop and smell the roses 🥀 is stronger than ever and she finds herself at a spiritual crossroads of free will. “Treasures” is the story of principalities, powers, and the rulers of the Kingdom of Light and of darkness dueling for the devotion of a girl who can’t make up her mind. This is the story of pleasure vs. Treasure, the difference between fleeting and everlasting, and the journey to discover which desire will capture our protagonist’s heart in the end.
