About Me
“Write. Write Everything.”
Her words broke through my cavernous thoughts.
I was twelve, going on thirteen, losing a bitter fight against the iron grip of depression
when my mom burst into my bedroom with that sage advice and an armful of beautiful,
hardcover journals. With nothing to lose, I filled them up. With songs and observations,
making sense of questions and answers. Ascribing words and music to my aching thoughts
became a healing balm, and I haven’t stopped medicating since.
Storytelling
Long before I possessed enough language to drive ink stains across empty pages stories had already captured my heart. My bookshelf offerings were used and abused as a toddler who
insisted that my sacred bedtime pastime be facilitated on a nightly basis. My favorite stories
grew up with me, introducing me to characters I loved, from Junie B. Jones to Kunta Kinte.
Reading allowed me to step into their shoes. Theatre acting in young adulthood took the experience to new heights. Now, as a full-time voice actor, I continue to unlock these treasures daily. The best extension of my storytelling journey came on the heels of writing my first musical “Forestine”.
Fusing songwriting with plots and beloved, nuanced characters has been the
most rewarding offshoot yet. After completing the libretto for “Forestine”
, I went on to write
my three part song cycle “Treasures”
, my first novel “Grey”
, and more. Since moving to New
York three years ago, I have completed seven original stories: from musicals to song cycles
and plays. As I delve into the world of book publishing, I’m realizing that the sky’s the limit
with the various avenues my storytelling can take.
ABOUT HIM
The most crucial thing “about me” is about Him . My allegiance to the Most High Yah, the one true God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, my Savior Jesus Christ . That faithful genius has been whispering in my ear since those early adolescent days. He wrestled with me until I became strong, patiently fine tuning my character and smoothing away the rough touch with tough love. For every question, He had an answer, and a song for me to write about it.
His Word is my most treasured book of all, my guiding light as the days grow darker. From glory to glory, He blows and expands my mind with His brilliance.
And He still tells me,
“Write. Write Everything.”
